The New Covenant

As a believer I know Christ is the center of the New Covenant. He paid the highest price by becoming the sacrifice for the penalty of our sin. The scriptures I’m referring to read;

Christ told us to receive forgiveness of sin we must believe in Him and the blood He shed on the cross. Because it’s through Him that our sins are forgiven so we can have everlasting life, but, only when we believe. The scriptures read;

Once we believe what then? Jesus provides more information when He was speaking to Nicodemus, He explained, that to enter the Kingdom of God one must be born of water and the Spirit because the Spirit gives new life. The scripture reads;

The Holy Spirit renews us, teaches us, guides us, helps us during our prayer time, helps us to praise God, and keeps us focused on the Lord. But, the Holy Spirit has another important task, He helps us to walk in Faith so we can keep God’s Law. Keeping God’s Law is extremely important because God announced long ago, in the days of Jeremiah, in the days of King David, in the days of Isaiah and in the day of Ezekiel, what He would do through the New Covenant, which says;

In these scriptures you can see how the LORD plainly states He is making a new covenant. Originally, it was with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, but, seeing the Lord was rejected by His own He turned to the gentiles. This is why we receive the blessing of the covenant. But read what Ezekiel also stated;

Since we know the LORD does NOT change, why would HE state that the people would follow HIS statues and are careful to follow HIS ordinances if they were nailed to the cross? That makes NO sense. But to provide additional information read what the Apostles stated;

When Christians read these couple of scriptures they seem to believe this is all we are responsible in keeping, but, that is false doctrine. You see, what many miss is the words which are spoken afterwards, which reads;

As you can see in this scripture the Apostles are stating that new believers can learn the Law that was given by Moses by going to the synagogues on the Sabbath because it is taught in every town. The Law was NOT nailed to the cross, and as I’ve stated over and over, to understand what was being written one needs to understand a little of the Jewish culture.

We were given God’s Spirit to help us walk in His Law, to do righteousness and follow His ways, but, we can choose to go against the Spirit and that my brothers and sisters leads to sin.

Power in the Good News

During my journey through the scriptures I’ve learned many Church leaders, preachers, evangelists, and those in charge of spreading the Good News of Christ Jesus have failed their congregations because they continue to allow sin to permeate the church. They change their doctrines to accomodate the latest trends of this world instead of tackling the issue of sin, the need for repentance, and teaching the Gospel of Christ Jesus. Today Churches are experiencing division within their walls. Half of the members embrace worldly sin while the other half is staying true to the teachings of Christ. Jesus said in Mattew;

These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They’re worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God. Matthew 15:8,9 (NASB)

You see there is POWER in the Good News, the Gospel, that Jesus and the Apostles taught. When sinners heard this POWERFUL MESSAGE, it was God at work changing their hearts. In the book of Romans, the scripture reads;

For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes – the Jew first and also the Gentile. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in His sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the scripture says, it is through faith that a righteous person has life. Romans 1:16,17 (NLT)

You see, if the Churches aren’t preaching the Good News, if they’re not preaching on sin, on the need for repentance, on the need to SIN NO MORE than THEIR MESSAGE is in vain, it’s NOT biblical and it’s NOT the message Christ Jesus and the Apostles taught. Yes, LOVE is a huge part of the Good News because it’s this LOVE which God exteneded to us, His Grace, through Christ to save us. And it’s this same LOVE which compels Christians to tell others about the Good News of Christ Jesus. But it is the grace of God that brings salvation which happens through the Good News, the Message of Christ Jesus. The scripture reads;

For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteous, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. He gave His life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us His very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds. Titus 2:11-14

But when a Church only teaches about love, about living your best life now, about prosperity, about worldly possessions, then, this Church is failing it’s members, it’s failing the Gospel Message, it’s failing Jesus, it’s failing God and places us under condemnation. The scriptures read;

I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who called you to Himself through the loving mercy of Christ. You are following a different way that pretends to be the Good News but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who deliberately twist the truth concerning Christ. Let God’s curse fall on anyone, including us or even an angel from heaven, who preaches a different kind of Good News than the one we preached to you. I say again what we have said before: If anyone preaches any Good News than the one you welcomed, let that person be cursed. Galatians 1:6-9 (NLT)

In fact, these Church leaders are preaching the EXACT opposite of what God’s LOVE is truly about!

What is Salvation?

The word salvation is the act of saving, delivering or redeeming. When Christians speak of salvation we’re referring to God’s plan to save us from our sin, from ourselves and from this world. Because it is only God that saves us. God tells us this in the Old Testament;

Tell and bring forth your case; Yes, let them take counsel together. Who has declared this from ancient time? Who has told it from that time? Have not I, the Lord? And there is no other God besides Me, a just God and Savior; There is none besides Me.

Isaiah 45:21

God is our only hope for salvation, but, to fully grasp His plan we must understand why it’s needed. It simply comes down to realizing that God is holy, just, righteous and we are NOT. We are sinful! But, because He is holy and just He cannot allow sin to go unpunished and that penalty, is DEATH!

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:23

So what does God do? He makes a New Covenant with the House of Israel and the House of Judah and He sends His Word (Christ), because we’re told;

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him not even one thing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the light of mankind. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not grasp it.

John 1:1-5

We’re also told further down in John 1:14, that the word becomes flesh. The Word which the scripture is speaking of is, the Christ, the Chosen One, the Mashiach, the Messiah, Yeshua, Jesus, the Son of God. We’re told God sends his only Son to pay the price for our sin.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

John 3:16

This scripture means exactly what it says, Jesus paid our debt. He was blameless, sinless, pure and He was our sacrifice on the cross. We were given this free gift by God through Jesus, but, what a debt He paid. Look what Isaiah says about it;

But [in fact] He has borne our griefs, and He has carried our sorrows and pains; Yet we [ignorantly] assumed that He was stricken, struck down by God and degraded and humiliated [by Him]. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]; the punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him, and by His stripes (wounds) we are healed. All of us like sheep have gone astray, we have turned, each one, to his own way; But the LORD has caused the wickedness of us all [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing] to fall on Him [instead of us]. He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth [to complain or defend Himself]; Like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that is silent before her shearers, so He did not open His mouth. After oppression and judgment He was taken away; and as for His generation [His contemporaries], who [among them] concerned himself with the fact that He was cut off from the land of the living [by His death] for the transgression of my people, to whom the stroke [of death] was due? His grave was assigned with the wicked, but He was with a rich man in His death, because He had done no violence, nor was there any deceit in His mouth. Yet the LORD was willing to crush Him, causing Him to suffer; If He would give Himself as a guilt offering [an atonement for sin], He shall see His [spiritual] offspring, He shall prolong His days, and the will (good pleasure) of the LORD shall succeed and prosper in His hand. As a result of the anguish of His soul, He shall see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge [of what He has accomplished] the Righteous One, My Servant, shall justify the many [making them righteous–upright before God, in right standing with Him], For He shall bear [the responsibility for] their sins. Therefore, I will divide and give Him a portion with the great [kings and rulers], and He shall divide the spoils with the mighty, because He [willingly] poured out His life to death, and was counted among the transgressors; yet He Himself bore and took away the sin of many, and interceded [with the Father] for the transgressors.

Isaiah 53:4-12

But, how are we to be saved?

The way to receive salvation is to believe in the Lord Jesus, the Christ. In Acts 16 the apostle Paul was asked by one of his jailer, what must I do to be saved? They said, believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household. It’s our belief in Him and our faith that He does save us which opens the door to God’s plan of salvation. But look what Jesus himself says in John;

Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me, will never die. Do you believe this?

John 11:25,26

But when we believe in Him, it’s believing everything that was taught by Him and by His Apostles. It means we must believe all these things;

When you believe in Christ as the Son of God, who came in the flesh to save us from our sin by sacrificing Himself on the cross, you’ll feel conviction in your heart. You’ll remember all your wrongdoings (sin) whether physically, the words you say, your thoughts, and your actions. It’s during this conviction you want to humble yourself and pray. Letting God know you believe in Jesus as His Son, who came in the flesh, was sacrificed for our sin on the cross and was resurrected on the 3rd day. Then you want to repent of all your sins, and if you can name them, that’s even better.

God has a Plan of Salvation, but because He gives us the ability to make our own decisions, it’s up to each of us to accept it!

What is the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

Romans 5:12Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all mankind, because all sinned-

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Isaiah 6:3 – And one called to another and said: “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!”

Isaiah 43:15I am the LORD, your Holy One, The Creator of Israel, your King.

John 3:16For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him.

1 Timothy 2:5 – For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.

Hosea 6:6For I desire loyalty rather than sacrifice, and the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.

Isaiah 1:11-14 What are your many sacrifices to me? Says the Lord. I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fattened cattle; And I take no pleasure in blood of bulls, lambs or goats. When you come to appear before Me, who requires of you this trampling of My courtyards? Do not go on bringing your worthless offerings, incense is an abomination to Me. New moon and Sabbath, the proclamation of an assembly- I cannot endure wrongdoing and the festive assembly. I hate your new moon festivals and your appointed feasts, they have become a burden to Me; I am tired of bearing them.

Isaiah 53:5But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed.

1 Peter 21-24To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in His steps. He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in His mouth. When they hurled their insults at Him, he did not retaliate; when He suffered, He made no threats. Instead He entrusted Himself to Him who judges justly. He Himself bore our sins, in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; By His wounds you have been healed.

Revelation 22:12 – And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.

What is God’s Grace?

God’s grace is simply His love, mercy and favor for all of mankind. In God’s infinite love and mercy, He chose to give His grace on the underserving, wretched and unworthy as a way to draw them to Christ through whom we are saved. Because of God’s love and mercy, He gave the free gift of grace to save us. How amazing is that!

Grace is a Gift – God freely gives us the gift of grace. It’s not something we earn, something we can buy, or because of our moral behavior it’s because of God’s infinite love, mercy and graciousness.

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;

Ephesians 2:8

Grace Brings Salvation – Salvation came to all of mankind through the birth, death and resurrection(on the third day) of God’s only Son, Jesus (Christ, the Messiah, the Anointed, the Chosen One, Yeshua, Immanuel). It is through the death of Christ and the blood which He shed on the cross which offers salvation to those who believe, trust and put their faith in Him.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

Romans 3:23

God’s grace is what helps us to overcome sin. It’s God’s grace which teaches us how to deny ungodliness and worldly desires. Plus it teaches us to live a sensible, righteous life.

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,

Titus 2:11,12

Each Was Given Grace – God’s undeserved favor was given to each of us in different ways and each of these gifts are to be used to build up the church, it’s members, so that they can do good works.

But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift.

Ephesians 4:7

Grace Reigns Through Righteouness – Once the law had been revealed, sin which was already present became obvious to those who followed the law. Because it was the law which made people aware of their wrongdoings, their sin. Sin brings death, but, grace leads to righteousness.

The law came in so that the offense would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, so also grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 5:20,21

It’s God’s gift of grace that gives us the ability to right against spiritual warfare, to live a righteousness life, to build ourselves up through prayer, to share our gifts, to help buildup others and to persevere. When life seems difficult, hard and you feel you’ve nowhere to turn, God’s grace is always there.

Messiah A New Covenant

In the Old Testament God proclaimed He would make a New Covenant with the House of Israel and the House of Judah. But what exactly does God mean when He says, a New Covenant? To fully comprehend what God was referring to it’s important to understand what the word “covenant” means.

When God makes a covenant, it’s a promise which He declares. But God doesn’t just declare it, He establishes it, He’s faithful to it, and He remembers the covenant. But God also prepares His people for what’s going to take place, and in the case of the “New Covenant” God had His Prophets prophesied about what would take place. The Prophet Jeremiah states;

Behold, days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, For this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: “I will put my law within them and write it on their heart; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. They will not teach again, each one his neighbor and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they will all know Me,’ from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares the Lord, “for I will forgive their wrongdoing, and their sin I will no longer remember.”

Jeremiah 31:31,33-35

But the Prophet Ezekiel also says;

Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘This is what the Lord says: It is not for your sake, house of Israel, that I am about to act, but for My holy name, which you have profaned among the nations you went. And I will vindicate the holiness of My great name which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned among them. Then the nations will know that I am the Lord,” declares the Lord God, “when I show Myself holy among you in their sight. For I will take you from the nations, and gather you from all the lands; and I will bring you into your own land. Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. Moreover, I will give you a you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put My Spirit within you and bring it about that you walk in My statues, and are careful and follow My ordinances. And you will live in the land that I gave to your forefathers; so you will be My people, and I will be your God.

Ezekiel 36:22-28

From these two scriptures we see that God proclaimed a #NewCovenant with the #HouseofIsrael long before it took place. What I fine extremely interesting is, these are NOT the only areas in the #OldTestament which speaks of the New Covenant. In fact, the #ProphetIsaiah prophesied this in Isaiah 53 and we’re told in Isaiah 42:1-9 about God’s Chosen One, in Isaiah 7:14 we see the sign of a virgin giving birth to a son, in Micah 5:2 we see the ruler of Israel will be born in Bethlehem in Genesis 3:15 God puts enmity between the woman’s offspring and the serpents, in Zechariah 9:9 it tells He will enter Jerusalem on a donkey, Zechariah 11:12-13 tells how the Lord is betrayed for 30 pieces of silver, along with numerous others found in; Psalm 40:6-8, Isaiah 9:1-2, Isaiah 35:5-6, Isaiah 40:34, Daniel 7:13-14, Psalm 22:16, Psalm 22:16-18, Psalm 16:9-11, Psalm 69:21, Isaiah 25:7-8, Isaiah 50:3-6, Isaiah 22:22.

If you read all the scriptures listed, you get a bigger picture of Jesus Christ, the #JewishMessiah, found within the Old Testament. It’s also why I have such a hard time understanding why the #Jewishpeople can’t see their Messiah which is spoken of in the Torah, the Prophets and the Writings. Because when you really think about it, #Judaism does not and cannot change the heart, God proved that throughout the ages with #Israel each time they turned away from Him. But by believing in Christ Jesus as the Son of God, God gives a new heart of flesh and His Holy Spirit He puts within you.

All these things are prophesied in the Old Testament, but, it’s up to each of us to “see” what’s written.

Those who have eyes to see, let them see!

What is Sin?

Simply put, sin is anything that causes disobedience and rebellion against God. It’s any wrongdoing, violation, transgression, wickedness, evil, misbehavior, error, mistake, dishonesty, immoral act, immoral word, immoral thought or deed that goes against God.

How did sin enter the world?

Sin goes all the way back to the very beginning when God created Adam and Eve. After God created Adam He placed Adam in the garden of Eden, gave specific instructions that he could eat of anything within the garden freely, except, from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Unfortunately, Adam’s wife, Eve, was tempted by the serpent and chose to listen to him and brought the fruit to Adam for him to eat. At this point Adam had a choice to make, to obey God or to disobey God and eat of the fruit. Adam chose to disobey.

It’s from this very act of disobedience that caused sin to come into the world. The consequences of that action changed Adam’s very relationship with God. It created a separation between God and Adam, Adam became a sinner and he now knew the difference between good and evil. It also caused an immediate penalty of spiritual death.

Since Adam was the first creation he kickedstarted the human race, which means, he became the source of mankind’s sin. He brought sin into the world and the penalty for sin is death.

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the World, and death through sin, and so death spread to all mankind, because all sinned

Romans 5:12

So what is sin?

Sin is anything that is disobedient or goes against God!

Is God Holy?

Anyone that has ever gone to church or was raised in a religious family was taught that God is Holy He cannot and does not sin, so knowing this, why do some people still question God’s character? And what does it mean for a person to be holy?

Holy means worthy of complete devotion, someone who is pure, set apart or sanctified because of their divine or sacred nature. Holy means perfect in character, perfect in righteousness, perfect in judgment, perfect in truth, perfect in morals, in fact, perfect in everything. It means Flawless, Spotless, Pristine, Faultless, Impeccable, Honorable, Virtuous, Pure and Sinless.

Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.

Proverbs 30:5,6

From this scripture we’ve learned, God is Pure and He is a shield for those who put their trust in Him. In 1 Samuel 2:2 the scripture reveals no one is holy like the Lord. In 1 Peter 1:15,16 the Apostle Peter says we should be holy because the one who called us is holy. But it doesn’t stop there, in Hebrews 12:14 we’re told to pursue peace and holiness or we will not see the Lord. In Romans 12:1 the Apostle Paul tells us we should present our bodies as a living and holy sacrifice. And in Leviticus 11:45 God tells Israel they are to be holy because He is holy.

God’s holiness is what makes Him distinct and it’s also what separates Him from mankind.

So, is God Holy?

YES, YES, and YES! God is Absolutely HOLY!

Does God Exist?

Does god “really” exist or is it a figment of our imagination? Absolutely, without a shadow of doubt, God is real! He existenced from the very beginning and still exist today. What makes me believe this? Look what the Bible says in Genesis;

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Genesis 1:1

From the very beginning God has been here. Like a blank canvas, God created His masterpiece by creating the universe, the heavens, the earth and everything in it. But look what David says in Psalms;

The heavens tell of the glory of God; and their expanse declares the work of His hands.

Psalm 19:1

The Bible proclaims there is a God and all you need to do is look around you at everything He created. God is in everything that was created. His divine nature and eternal power can clearly be seen in everything He created. Look what Paul has to say about this;

For since the creation of the world, His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, being understood by what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

Romans 1:20

Besides the Bible as evidence, archaeology, history, science and our own personal experiences support God exist. But the real question isn’t whether God exist, but rather, if one is open to the “possibility” of His existence. Because many non-believers want “actual” physical proof that God exist, or, they want God to give them a sign that he truly does exist.

Think about this, many non-believers put their “faith” in science, yet, science can’t explain how the universe was created, or, how to create human DNA. Sure science can replicate DNA and can give “theories” on how the universe was created, but, when it comes down to actual proof, science can’t provide it.

Why? Because God exist and He created everything.

You want proof? Just open your eyes and look around you!

Is The Word Christian Biblical?

Is the word Christian even biblical and if it is, where is it located in the bible? The earliest usage of the word is found in Acts and it says;

And he left for Tarsus to look for Saul; and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. And for an entire year they met with the church and taught considerable numbers of people; and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

Acts 11:26

We see from this scripture that the people in Antioch called the disciples Christians. But are there any other scriptures which mentions Christians? Actually there is, look what Peter says;

But if anyone suffers as a Christian, he is not to be ashamed, but is to glorify God in this name.

1 Peter 4:16

The people of Antioch called those who followed Christ, Christians. They did so because of the disciples belief, faith, acts and behavior was Christ like. So, is the word Christian biblical and a true representation of Christ followers? Absolutely!

What is a Christian?

What exactly is a #Christian? Is it someone who was raised in a Christian family, someone who attended Church and Sunday School, someone who attended vacation bible school during the summer months, someone who leads the Sunday singing, someone who plays an instrument within the Church, someone who teaches a class within the Church, or, someone repeating a short repentance prayer? Because I have questions, especially, with what I see going on this world. Many proclaiming to be Christians, but I wonder, are they really? To understand this issue I decided to turn to the Bible and discuss what the Prophets, Apostles and even #Christ said about it. So let’s examine the scriptures the Apostle Paul spoke to the Corinthians which says;

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

2 Corinthians 5:17

From this scripture alone we can see that someone who is “truly” in Christ, or a Christian, is changed. They become a “new creation” meaning that person no longer has a desire for their old way of life. But for Christians to fully understand this particular scripture, I wanted to break this scripture down even further, so I turned to my Study Bible which says;

Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].

2 Corinthians 5:17

My Study Bible says the exact same thing as the New American Standard Bible, but the difference is, my Study Bible breaks it down further so you can understand the “actual” meaning Paul was making. In my Study Bible, again, we’re being told that if we’re in Christ, a “true Christian”, we are reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit. Those old ways have passed away and we’ve experienced a spiritual awakening that brings a new life, or, a new desire within us to seek God.

The #ApostlePaul didn’t say we were improved or become a better version of ourselves, he said we become a new creature which brings new things. But to further emphasize this point look what the Prophet Ezekiel said;

Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you, and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put MY SPIRIT within you and cause you to walk in My statues, and you will keep My ordinances and do them.

Ezekiel 36:26,27

Since Christians are grafted in to the body of Christ, we receive this same declaration which God made to the House of Israel. So, what exactly is a Christian? Christ said it best when he stated;

Jesus answered him, I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless a person is born again [reborn from above, spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified], he cannot [ever] see and experience the Kingdom of God. Jesus answered, I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot [ever] enter the Kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh [the physical is merely physical], and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

John 3:3,5,6

So what is a Christian?

A Christian is someone who is born again (John 3:3), believes, trusts and puts their faith in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:7-9). They believe and have faith that Christ Jesus is the Son of God, who came in the flesh, was born of a virgin, created His church, sacrificed Himself for our sins on the cross, and was resurrected on the third day, showed Himself to the Apostles and others, then, ascended into heaven. A Christian is someone who after hearing the gospel of your salvation is sealed in Him. Look what Ephesians says;

In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation – having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory.

Ephesians 1:13,14

The Jewish Messiah, Yeshua

As a Christian it was hard for me to grasp the reason why the Jewish people didn’t embrace Yeshua, Jesus, when He walked upon the earth. Remember, this was a time “before” the spanish inquisition, “before” the crusades and “before” the horrific acts of Adoft Hitler and the Holocaust. Because, I would “certainly” understand the reluctance of the Jewish people if it was during those times, but, it wasn’t. So, I wanted to understand the reasons they “rejected” their Jewish Messiah, Yeshua, GOD’s only Son.

A couple of nights ago I watched some of the most amazing testimonies involving Jewish people. I was so happy, my heart felt like it was overflowing, yet, I was heartbroken at the same time. As I listened to their testimonies I learned a few things.

From my understanding, the Hebrew Bible consist of The Torah, Prophets and the Writings collectively. These are equivalent to what Christians call the Old Testament. So in Judaism, there is “no” New Testament. All they have to go by is what the Prophets spoke of, what the rabbis teach and their families. But look what Jeremiah said;

Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a “New Covenant” with the House of Israel and with the House of Judah.

Jeremiah 31:31

Before these Jewish men and women converted from Judaism to Christianity, many would experience visions or dreams which caused more anxiety, depression, emptiness and made their lives more difficult. They didn’t change overnight and in some cases it took years, before it happened. And when they spoke to family and friends, many were disowned, some beaten, Rabbis have threatened to kill them, they’ve been stalked and some placed in mental institutions, it was a very heart wrenching position for them to accept Yeshua. But once they began reading the “New Testament” it connected for them.

Jesus was Jewish! He is the son of Abraham, the son of David, it all made sense. The New Testament tied everything together for them, it was the missing piece that many needed to convert. But when they would approach their Rabbis about what they had learned the Rabbis would chastise them and throw them out of the synagogue.

But knowing all of this, why is there “still” such a hostility toward Yeshua, The Messiah in Judaism? Why did the Rabbis make up horrible stories about Him?

For the same very reason when “Jesus” walked the earth before, they felt “threatened” by His very prescence. It was easier to claim “Yeshua” was of Satan instead of GOD. You see, the Rabbis would no longer have control over the Jewish people, they would loose their power, their positions, their customs, rituals and traditions, their teachings, everything which they cherished. For me, this made sense. I could finally understand why there was so much opposition to Jesus.

Something which really struck a cord with me was during one of the interviews, one of the men quoted a scripture which enabled Him to view things differently, how he saw Yeshua, and what Jesus did for him. It’s found in Isaiah and it goes like this;

But He has borne our griefs, and He has carried our sorrows and pains; Yet we assumed He was stricken, struck down by God and degraded and humiliated [by him]. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]; The punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him and by His stripes [wounds] we are healed.
