The Lost Sheep

One of my favorite parables in the Bible is, The Parable of the Lost Sheep. I say one of my favorites because I like all of them. But this one really speaks to the heart of who Jesus is. This parable is found in the Book of Matthew and Luke. In Matthew it speaks to how the Son of Man came to save those who are lost. But in this instance I’ll use the Luke version.

What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the 99 in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’

I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over 99 just persons who need no repentance.

Isn’t this amazing!

Because this is exactly what the Lord Christ Jesus does for each of His lost Sheep. Those who were given to Him by His Father, if they stray or get lost, when they repent, He finds them.

None of us are perfect and many of us have strayed. But the Lord Christ Jesus will find you if you repent of your sins. Don’t hold on to them overburdening yourself with guilt or shame. Instead, humble yourself before God and speak to Him from your heart. Don’t be afraid to tell Him everything you’ve done, because, He already knows. But he’s waiting on you to take that step.

We’re each going to go before the Great White Throne so don’t let these worldly sins get the best of you. And if there’s a specific sin you can’t seem to shake, ask God to deliver you from it.

Repent now, because tomorrow is never promised.

Glory to God…
